Pools
How can I check if air is leaking from the air valve?
• It can be located by using a mixture of liquid soap and water. Before checking for the air leak from the air valve, please make sure that inflatable ring is fully inflated, then apply the soapy mixture to the air valve. While doing so, you will see bubbles where there is an air leak.
If the air valve is deformed, how can I restore its initial shape?
• Discharge 10% of the water for safety reasons.
• Prepare some hot water 85℃ (176℉), and put the whole valve into the water for 1 minute.
• Wait for the valve to cool down and close the valve. It will recover the correct shape. Warning: the operation must be performed by an adult. Be careful with the hot water.
We recommend using a garden hose under low pressure to fill in your pool. If it is necessary to use a water delivery service, it is better to fill the pool with one inch of water by hose and smooth wrinkles first. It is recommended to use a water service that is able to regulate the flow of water to prevent damage. Stop at each step noted in the instruction manual to ensure your pool is level. Bestway will not be held responsible for pools damaged or weakened by water delivery services.
If you set up your Bestway pool on an area that is uneven or a non-recommended area stated in the Owner’s Manual, you waive the right to submit a warranty claim. By setting up the pool improperly you dramatically increase the chance of your pool being damaged.
First, you need to check if the flow rate of your pump is suitable with the water quantity of the new pool, and then you have to make sure the hose connections are compatible.
Yes. There is no problem in using the filter pump when the pool is covered.
No, please do not use the swimming pool when the sand filter pump is operating.
Why is the color of the liner fading?
- Exposure to sunlight can fade of the original color of the external surface. The internal PVC color can fade with use of chemicals necessary for water maintenance. Unfortunately, there is no way to restore the original color of the liner. However, it should not affect the use of your liner.
- IMPORTANT: over usage of chemicals can damage the PVC liner, and the results can be dangerous for the user. Always follow the quantity suggested and use the chemical floater to perform the chemical treatment. Don't add the chemicals directly to the water. The chemicals will deposit on the bottom and can break the PVC.
Why the color inside my pool is fading?
- Excessive use of chemicals can cause the color of the inside of the liner to fade. This is similar to a swimsuit fading over time from repeated contact with chlorinated water.
It is strongly recommended to disassemble the pool for the winter. The above ground pools may collapse under the weight of ice and snow, which would greatly damage the PVC pool walls. We recommend disassembling the pool when temperatures fall below 8ºC / 45ºF.
Yes, we recommend using pool chemicals to maintain the proper chemical levels of the water. Pool chemicals can also make maintenance easier by significantly reducing the amount of times you change your water during the season. Important: always follow the safety instructions written on the chemical products. Chemicals can be purchased from here on our website or your local pool suppliers.
The Comfort Jet console has to be installed on the side with the two holes on the pool liner marked with the letters A and B following the steps in the instruction manual. See the video for more information.
The connection valve has to be installed in the holes on the steel wall. Before installing the connection valve, fill the pool with water until it's 20 cm (9 in.) lower than the hole on the steel wall and cut the liner following the instructions in the User Manual.
Good news! You do not need to empty your pool to fix a hole. Your pool came with underwater adhesive repair patches or they can purchased at your local pool/hardware store. Here's how to place the repair patch:
1. Clean the surface around the hole on the inside of the pool to wipe off any oils and algae.
2. Cut a circle out of the repair patch large enough to cover the hole.
3. Apply the patch inside the pool and keep it pressed for 30 seconds to complete the operation. We also suggest applying a second patch to the external part of the pool liner for extra strength.
To change the filter cartridge, follow these steps:

- Connect the adaptor to the garden hose.
- Place the other end of the hose in an area where the water can be safely drained.
- Screw the hose adapter to open the drain valve. Note: water will start to drain immediately.
- Disconnect hose and adapter when finished.
- Replace drain cap on the outside of the pool.
Make sure the pool liner is completely dry before storing for a long period of time.
For pools smaller than 22 ft. (6.71 m), reduce the number of long hoses simultaneously until the total length is equivalent to the length from dedicated suction line to the fastest point in the pool.
The pressure gauge should drop to zero (“0”) when the motor is turned off. If the motor turned off and the pressure gauge didn't drop to zero, it is broken.
To perform the air purge operation, follow below steps or watch how to video .
1. After connecting the hoses, remove the plug and install the debris screen or open the connection valves.
2. Open the purge valve located on the top cover. The air will flow out until the water flows out.
3. Close the purge valve tightly to avoid leakage.
4. Plug in the filter pump, and it is ready to work.
IMPORTANT: This operation must be repeated every time you perform any maintance operation.
There is a mechanical switch on the top of the Comfort Jet console. When the switch is flat, the HydroJet fuction is not activated.
Please watch how to video for more information.
This depends on the amount of use the pool receives, how the pool is chemically and/or manually maintained and the attention paid to covering the pool. If maintained correctly, the water should last a full summer season. Please contact your local pool chemical supplier for detailed information regarding chemical maintenance; they will be able to properly advise you about maintaining the cleanliness of your water.
There is no set time limit for the longevity of the pools. Following the instructions in the owner’s manual and with proper care, maintenance and storage, you can considerably increase the life of your pool. Improper set-up, storage and usage can instead reduce it drastically.
We recommend the use of a Bestway inflation pump (not included) or other low-pressure pump when attempting to inflate the top ring. The top ring is inflated correctly when it becomes round in shape and is firm to the touch. Pay attention to the air temperature variation. If the top ring is over-inflated, under the sunshine it may burst or could lead to leaks in the seam. If the ring is too firm, open the inflation valve and release the excess air. In cold, ambient temperatures, the top ring will lose pressure. It may appear as though the ring is deflating due to a leak, but it is caused by the difference in temperature. We suggest you do not inflate it so you can avoid the same situation. Note: Use of an air compressor or high pressure pump for the inflation of the ring is not recommended. Bestway will not be responsible for the bursting of the ring due to the use of an air compressor.
The optimum salt level in the pool water is 3,000ppm ( 3g/L ), or you can find the specifications in the Owner’s Manual.
Bestway recommends testing the pool's chemical levels before each use.
The pool must be thoroughly cleaned with a mild soap and water solution and carefully rinsed to completely remove soap suds and dirty residue. Make sure the pool is completely dry before storing it. Fold the pool liner only if the environment temperature is above 10ºC / 50ºF. Store the pool in a dry place with a moderate temperature between 10ºC / 50ºF and 38ºC / 100ºF and position the pool liner and all accessories inside a carton box, to better protect the PVC material during the colder months.
There are two ways to check if the pool is set up on an unleveled ground:
The first one is to verify if the top rails are all at the same level. In case the top rails are not levelled, adjust the ground and then, fill the pool with water.
The second one is to verify the water level is the same on all around the pool. In case the water level is different from one point to another, stop filling the water. Then, adjust the ground and fill the pool with water again.
If the pool is not on level ground, it will place undue stress on the seams and could result in the seams bursting, which can cause flooding, property damage and potentially personal injury or death. Fill your pool following the instructions in the owner’s manual carefully. This will ensure that you do not waste water and the pool can be easily moved before the pool is completely filled.
Follow the instructions in the Owner’s Manual provided with the filter pump. Please kindly note that it is necessary to put the blue plug in the pool valves to avoid water flowing out in order to replace the filter cartridge without emptying the pool.
It is not necessary to add more salt if you have already added the specified amount. Salt loss is only due to physical removal of pool water. Salt cannot be lost due to evaporation. The only time you need to add salt is when the level of chlorine tested by the Bestway test strips is below 2ppm and the operating time is as stated in Table 2 and Table 5 in the Flowclear Chlorinator Owner’s Manual.
No. While the filter pump helps to capture the particles suspended in the water, chemical products are necessary to clean and maintain the correct balance for hygienic water.
Bestway Pools are designed to be above ground. To assemble your purchased pool, you must follow the instructions in the owner's manual. Partially or totally burying the pool results in the penalty of loss of the warranty.
The timer cannot be used if the filter pump / sand filter pump is equipped with an external RCD or GFCI. The timer will compromise the functionality of the products. If the filter pump / sand filter pump doesn't have an external PRCD or GFCI, you can use the timer. If you installed the filter pump / sand filter pump together with a chlorinator or a pool heater, be sure the chlorinator has already finished the set cycle or switch off the pool heater before the filter pump / sand filter pump.
No. Under no circumstances should you jump or dive into the pool. Bestway does not sell any pools that are deep enough for such activities, and failure to abide by this rule may likely result in serious injury, paralysis or death.
The Bestway Flowclear Skimatic filter pump is suitable with all dimensions of frames of Bestway pools and with the inflatable ring of the Fast Set pool, thanks to the two sets of hooks included in the product set.
IMPORTANT: The only structure in the Bestway pool range that is not compatible with the Skimatic Filter Pump is the steel wall Hydrium Pool.
IMPORTANT: When you buy this product, be sure that the flow rate of the Skimatic filter pump is compatible with the water volume of your pool.
We suggest completely deflating the top ring and discharging the rest of the water, or you can buy a drain pump to complete this operation.
If the pressure reading on the pressure gauge is over the maximum pressure mentioned in the user manual, it could be the time to clean the sand. Before cleaning the sand, check the following:
• Is there anything blocking the hoses?
• Are the connection valves closed or partially closed?
• Is there a hole in any of the hoses?
• Does the pressure go to 0 when you turn the filter off?
After having checked the above conditions, please follow the instructions on the manual to perform backwash and rinsing. If there is still a high-pressure reading, it is necessary to replace the sand bed.
Not all sets include the pool covers and ground cloths. Bestway supplies many different package combinations for all your needs. You can find the list of items you purchased in the package printed on the side of the box.
Bestway Hydrium Pools are built without a drain valve. To drain the water from your pool, follow the instructions and corresponding diagrams below:
• Insert the hose into the water until it is completely submerged.
• Cover one end with your hand to keep the water inside.
• Take out the hose, keeping your hand over the end.
• Place the hose in the designated draining area, removing your hand to let the water flow.
• The water will begin to drain automatically.
Please follow below steps to drain Power Steel Comfort Jet oval pools:

Note: water will start to drain immediately.
5. Disconnect the hose and adapter when finished.
6. Replace drain cap on the outside of the pool.
7. Make sure the pool liner is completely dry before storing for a long period of time.
If the chlorine level is too high, don’t use the pool until the chlorine level drops below 4ppm. To decrease the chlorine level follow the instructions below:
1. Unplug the chlorinator and then the filter pump/sand filter pump.
2. Drain approximately 20% of the water from your pool.
3. Refill the pool until it reaches the correct level.
4. Run the filter pump/sand filter pump for 8 hours.
5. Test the chlorine level again with the Bestway test strips.
6. Repeat step 2 until the level of chlorine is between 2ppm and 4ppm.
With the help of a little wooden stick and some talcum powder, the liner can be separated from the top rails. As recommend in the user manual, to avoid this situation in future seasons, customers can apply some talcum to the top rails before installation.
To find the right maintenace process for your water, try the following steps:
1. Increase filtration time.
2. Check the filter cartridge every day and rinse it with water. If the filter cartridge remains soiled and discolored, replace it with a new one.
3. The filter pump will not eliminate all bacterica in the water. The most important way to keep the water clean is by maintaining the correct chemical balance in the water. Check with your local pool supplies shop to get the correct quantity and type of chemicals needed to properly maintain clean water.
If the leak is from the connection hoses, follow these instructions:
• Check if the clamp is correctly tightened.
• Check if the hose's black seal gasket is positioned correctly or missing. If the position is not correct, follow these steps:
1. Close the connection valves to avoid the water flowing out when you open the hose.
2. Open the clamp.
3. Detach the hose and position it back with the black gasket in the correct position.
4. Close the clamp tight.
If the leak is coming from the purge valve, follow these instructions:
• Check if the purge valve is correctly tightened.
• If the purge valve is correctly tightened, follow the below steps:
1. Close the connection valves to avoid water flowing out when you open the purge valve.
2. open the purge valve and check if the gasket is missing or damaged.
Open the strainer cover, remove the O-ring and apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline over the O-ring. In case the O-ring is damaged, replace it. Make sure the cover is securely tightened by hand only.
If there is a leak from the top ring follow these instructions:
1. Check if the dimensions of the filter cartridge are suitable for the size of the filter pump that you purchased. If the filter cartridge is too big, the top cover cannot be closed correctly.
2. Close the connection valve, and open the top ring and check if the gasket is in correct position or if it is damaged. If the gasket is not in the correct position, position it correctly and close the top ring. If the gasket is damaged, please contact Bestway USA Customer Service at (855)-401-2000.
The presence of white flakes in your water depends on the hardness of the water. Drain about 20 to 25% of the pool water and add fresh water to decrease the calcium hardness. Visually inspect the electrolytic cell for scale buildup and clean the electrolytic cell if necessary.
If the above operation doesn't solve the problem, contact your nearest chemical supplier to purchase the correct chemical to reduce the hardness of the water.
Please follow below steps or watch how to video .
1. Make sure the inlet and outlet of the pool are fully covered by water.
2. Make sure the inlet and outlet valves are open.
3. Purge the air from the pump.
For instructions on how to purge the filter pump, check the related question.
1. Open the control valve.
2. Remove the blockage and reset the alarm.
3. If the alarm continues, take out the filter cartridge, rinse it, and replace the filter element for a new one if it is still discolored.
If the filter pump is unplugged during stand-by mode, the system will reset to the automatic mode, and the pump will not restart automatically the day after.
Almost any completely flat, solid and level surface can be used. Do not use sand as leveling material as it is prone to shift under the pool. The ground should be dug out until it is perfectly level. Do not set up on driveways, decks, platforms, gravel or asphalt. The ground should be stable enough to withstand the weight and pressure of the water. Mud, sand, soft/loose ground and tar are not suitable. To avoid abrasions and tears in the liner, it’s recommended to not drag the pool across the surface. If the pool has to be set up on a lawn, it is recommended that the grass is removed from under and around. The grass will die and may cause odors/slime.
IMPORTANT: Certain types of hard grass can grow through the liner, as can aggressive bushes/plants by the sides or through the pool. If this happens, it cannot be considered a manufacturer problem. Moreover, ground cloths are not designed to avoid this situation. So be sure to remove all aggressive bushes/plants from the designed location of the pool and its surroundings before installing it.
After the Bestway app is installed on your phone, open it and register an account. If you already have an account, log in and follow the instructions.
To define the correct size of filtration system for Bestway's Above Ground Pools, you need to know the water capacity of your pool. You can find this information on the package and in the owner manual.
Starting in 2017, all repair patches included in the sets are underwater adhesive repair patches. All of the ones produced before 2017 were heavy duty repair patches. Using the underwater repair patch is easy, and it is not necessary to drain the water from your pool.
Set the time according to the flow rate of the pump and the capacity of the pool. The time should completely filter one cycle of the pool water.
Example: Gallon of water in your pool / pump system flow rate = minimum working time
Fill pool until water capacity is 80%. Fill with water until the wall is straight up, and the water reaches the welding line. DO NOT OVERFILL as this could cause the pool to collapse. In case of heavy rainfall, you may need to empty some of the water to ensure the level is correct.
Please follow below directions or watch how to video .
To properly clean and store your Bestway pool, the pool must be thoroughly cleaned with a mild soap and water solution and carefully rinsed to completely remove soap suds and dirty residue. Make sure the pool is completely dry before storing it. The pool should be stored indoors at a moderate temperature between 41ºF (5ºC) and 100ºF (38ºC). Please store away from chemicals, rodents and out of reach of children.
In there is debris or dirt on the floor of the pool, we recommend using the Bestway Deluxe Maintenance Kit or choosing from our wide variety of Bestway cleaning accessories. Using the correct accessories to maintain your pool can increase the life of your water.
If the water becomes green due to the incorrect chemical maintenance, establish the correct chemical balance by contacting your local chemical dealer. They will suggest the correct products to use and the frequency.
