When the splashing is done for summer, there are countless ways to use your child’s kiddie pool. From creating stimulating play environments to taking your party hosting to the next level, there’s a use for (almost) every occasion.
1. Just Add Play Balls
The easiest way to mix up your child’s play is to swap out water and add play balls. You can switch from pool to ball pit in minutes and provide fun, indoor play year-round.

2. Swap Out Water for Foam
Fill the pool with foam or soapy water. This creates different textures that will delight your child’s senses and encourage sensory play. Think giant bubble bath but the purpose is not getting clean, it’s just fun!
3. Home Base for Water Balloons
Play and kiddie pools are great places to store water balloons for an epic water balloon fight! The bottom of the pool will protect the balloons from popping, so more water balloons can be used. To prevent the balloons from sticking to each other, add a low level of water to the bottom of the pool before you fill it with balloons.
4. Turn It Into a Water Table
Transform your child’s kiddie pool into a water table by placing it on a raised, flat surface and filling it with water. Then add cups, toys, and other accessories for kids to splash with. Water tables are great toys to help your child practice their dexterity and are a good introduction to
5. Sensory Container
For a less messy alternative to a water table, look in your pantry and see if you have some extra rice or beans that are past their expiration date. Dump the rice or beans into the pool and add some tools like cups, mini shovels or spoons. Your kids will love burying their favorite toys and practicing their dexterity as they scoop and dump the rice or beans as they play.
6. Two Words: Giant Bubbles
Fill the pool with bubble solution and make a giant bubble wand using household items (drinking straws and yarn or dowels and yarn). Your kids (and let’s be honest, you) will love spending hours trying to perfect their giant bubbles.
7. Lounge Area
Add pillows, fuzzy blankets and stuffed animals to the kiddie pool and you have a cozy place for your child to watch a movie, snuggle up at a sleepover or to read a book. Even kids need a place to lounge and relax throughout their days of play.
8. Oversized Cooler
Turn your kiddie pool into a stylish, oversized cooler for your next get-together by dumping in a few bags of ice. Add your favorite warm-weather beverages and you’re ready for a refreshingly good time! Plus, guests will love your clever and cute cooler.
With a little bit of creativity, there’s endless ways to play and use your kiddie pool!
