The temperatures are starting to dip, which means it’s time to get ready for the winter season! That means stocking up on gloves and hats, filling the pantry with instant hot cocoa... and taking down the Bestway® pool that has been the center of your family’s fun all summer long.
Follow these 6 simple steps, and you’ll have the pool down and ready to hibernate for the cooler seasons in no time.
1. Release water through the drain valve.
Each Bestway pool features a specially designed flow control drain valve that allows you to adjust how quickly the water releases from your pool. Depending on the setup of your yard, you can release the water directly from the valve or you can attach it to a hose to drain the water to a specific area. Just make sure that it’s directed away from the house or anything that is susceptible to water damage. There will be about 3 inches of water left in your pool at this point – that's perfect! 2. Remove the frame or deflate the top ring.
For Bestway steel frame pools, including our Steel Pro®, Steel Pro MAX™ or Power Steel® lines, you should gently remove the legs and the frame from the liner. For Bestway inflatable ring pools, like our Fast Set™ line, simply deflate the top ring. You can do this manually by squeezing the large safety valve and pressing down on the ring to push the air out.
Expert Tip: Use an air pump to quickly release the air from inside the inflatable ring of your pool!
Once this step is complete, you can drain away the rest of the water.
3. Clean the liner.
Once the frame is taken apart or the top ring is deflated, use a hose or tap water to rinse off the inside of the liner. Make sure to rinse away any chemicals, dirt or debris that may have stuck to the material.
4. Leave the liner out to dry.
Lay the liner out flat with the inside facing the sun to dry completely. Make sure to bring it in once it’s dry – don't leave it out for multiple days, otherwise the sun could damage the liner. At this stage, we do not recommend speeding the process up with a blow dryer or any sort of heated instrument, as this can damage the integrity of the liner.
Expert Tip: Once the liner is completely dry, do a once-over with a cloth or rag to make sure there isn’t any residual dirt or debris still on the material.

5. Fold the dry liner.
Start folding from the outer edges of the pool, removing any dirt or debris that may have stuck to the underside of the liner. Use somewhat loose folds to prevent the material from cracking.
Expert Tip: Before folding up the liner, you may want to sprinkle it with a bit of talcum powder to prevent the material from sticking to itself during storage. While this is completely optional, we do think it will make the setup process next season a little bit easier!
6. Store in a cool, dry place until next summer
Place the pool parts back into your Bestway box, and store it in a cool, dry place until it’s pool season again! We suggest finding a place where the temperatures are typically between 50º and 100ºF.

Bestway pools are a summer staple that’s meant to last for many years with proper maintenance and storage. Following these simple steps will ensure that your pool will be ready for you when next summer rolls around!
