Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. Remember when you were a child and one of the most exciting events you looked forward to was a sleepover with your BFFs? Sleeping over meant everyone got to stay and play games, watch movies, eat snacks and chit-chat all night long!
Now, as a parent, you get to be the one who organizes the ultimate sleepovers – with the help of your child, of course! Once the guest list has been finalized, and before you plan the food, drinks and entertainment, you might want to pick a theme that can be incorporated into the invitations, decorations and activities.
If you’re stuck on ideas, here are 3 popular party themes for the ultimate sleepover:
1. Disney® Princess
If your child is a Disney Princess fan, you can choose a theme around their favorite princess. Whether they’re Team Cinderella, Team Snow White or Team any of the other 11 princesses, there are plenty of ways you can plan a sleepover around these beloved characters.
If your child doesn’t have a favorite princess, you can make it fun by letting their friends decorate their own sleeping area with their favorite princess. They can bring a Disney Princess sheet, blanket and pillowcase to put on their air mattress to let their personality shine!
There are tons of magical princess snack ideas to choose from by doing a simple online search (our favorite recipe ideas here). One snack idea that’s highly praised is a castle cake. You can also purchase princess cookie cutters and let kids cut different snacks into princess-themed shapes. You’ll be taking care of the snacks and an activity – a happy ending for all!
2. Backyard Glamping
If the weather permits, and your child loves outdoor adventures, glamping (it’s not just for girls!) in the backyard is a fun way to mix the best of both worlds: camping and comfort.
Put up your tents (or individual teepees), inflate some air mattresses, and get ready to host some happy campers!
Since you’ll be outside observing all the kids, this is the perfect opportunity to start a small campfire so everyone can enjoy eating s'mores, telling campfire stories and singing “Kumbaya.”
If you need additional seating, inflatable chairs are easy to set up and require minimal storage. Plus, many Bestway® inflatable chairs feature fun, trendy designs that kids will love!
3. Superhero
If your little superhero is a comic book fan or an adventure movie buff, a superhero-themed sleepover will make them feel like they have superpowers!
There are just about as many options for decorations as there are superheroes. To help simplify your search, we recommend including a question on the invitation asking each kid to share their favorite superhero. That way, when they RSVP, you’ll be able to decorate accordingly. Each kid can also bring their own pillowcase and blanket to match their fave!
Make sure you leave plenty of open space in the living room to push together all the air mattresses, so the kids have room to show off their individual superpowers while sporting their masks and capes (which they can decorate and personalize as one of their fun activities!).
These are just a few examples of current popular sleepover themes. Depending on your child’s likes and interests – the options are endless!
Plus, the versatility of air mattresses (sizes, features and heights) makes it simple to incorporate them into rooms of all shapes and sizes. With their easy inflation and deflation, and compact sizes for storage, you’ll be set up for success for your child’s next sleepover!
