How to Power-Save Like a Pro with SaluSpa

Ready to save evergy, help your purchases last longer and feel good about reducing your environmental impact?

Welcome to the SaluSpa® power-saving timer!

The wide range of energy-saving appliances on the market make it easier than ever to be conscious of your energy usage. Bestway® is committed to finding ways to help you conserve energy. Many of our products, including our best-selling SaluSpa inflatable hot tub, have features such as a power-saving timer to do just that!

What is the power-saving timer?

The power-saving timer allows you to set when the SaluSpa heater pump turns on and how long it will run. Once the timer is complete, the heater will go into power-saving mode to conserve energy until you’re ready to use it again.

Why is it important?

The power-saving timer helps conserve energy, using just what is needed to heat the spa to its optimal temperature for use, rather than heating it around-the-clock unnecessarily (more details on how that works below).

Ultimately, “producing and using electricity more efficiently reduces both the amount of fuel needed to generate electricity and the amount of greenhouse gases and other air pollution emitted as a result,” according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. That means less of an environmental impact!

How do you use the power-saving timer function?

Ready to do a little math? Here’s a problem-solving example you can use to determine how to set yours up!

Let's say you know you want to enjoy your SaluSpa hot tub this weekend and make sure it reaches a toasty 104ºF (40°C). To do that, you will set your power-saving timer as follows:

1. Press the Lock/Unlock button on your pump control, and after one minute or less, you should see the real water temperature displayed, such as 64ºF (18℃).

2. If the set temperature is 104ºF (40°C), the difference between actual temperature and set temperature is 71ºF (22℃). Since the temperature increase per hour is approximately 35ºF (2℃), you need to start heating the water 11 hours ahead of when you want to use it. (Phew!) Select the button with the two timer clocks on it and hit the “Up” arrow button to set the hours.

   - If it is 6 p.m. and you want to use the spa the next day at 6 p.m., you will need to start the spa heater at 7 a.m. with the waiting time set to 13 hours and heating time set to 11 hours.

Note: Once the heater has completed its heating process, you will need to repeat the above steps to set a new time to heat your hot tub for the next use.

Without the power-saving function, you would have had to start the spa in the evening and run it for hours, wasting a lot of time, energy and money!

Any other tips I should keep in mind?

• Using the spa too infrequently will move it into hibernation mode (another automatic feature designed for power-saving and maintaining the overall longevity of your hot tub). Once your spa enters hibernation mode, all functions will stop. To reactivate it, simply press any button on the control panel.

• Keeping the spa heater on too long could cause damage to the heater or filtration system. Never operate your SaluSpa for 24 hours, 7 days a week. Your filtration system only needs to run 8 hours per day to maintain the chemical balance and running the heater continuously for too many days will result in pump damage.

Enjoying your SaluSpa inflatable hot tub doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. Simply use the power-saving timer, and you’ll be conserving energy — and so much more! — every time you choose to use it.
