8 Family-Friendly Activities to Add to Your Fall Bucket List

Now that it’s officially fall (hello, sweater weather!), you may be starting to compile a list of indoor and outdoor activities to do with your family.

From the crisp air, changing leaves, football and Halloween (more on that later!), fall brings an array of new possibilities for memory-making adventures.

With the changing of seasons, you don’t need to spend a ton of money to have a great time.

If you’re stuck on new ideas to celebrate the season, here are 8 fall activities you and your whole family will enjoy:

1. Apple Bobbing.

We’re bringing back the nostalgia when no child’s Halloween party was complete without a fun game of bobbing for apples. Fill up a large tub with cold water and apples (we recommend red to stay festive!), and you’ll have a blast laughing while enjoying time together as a family.

(Tip: Don’t have a large tub? No problem. A kiddie pool works great!)

2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch or an Apple Orchard.

No fall bucket list is complete without a trip to a pumpkin patch or an apple orchard. Part of the joy of visiting a pumpkin patch is picking out your own pumpkin. Finding one that’s the perfect size, shape and color is an adventure all in its own.

(Tip: If you’re visiting an apple orchard, bring your own basket to make it easier (and cheaper) to haul away all your delicious apples.)

3. Carve Pumpkins.

Autumn leaves and pumpkins, please! You have the pumpkins, now what? Have a pumpkin-carving contest.

(Tip: Make it a friendly competition; the best carving gets to pick where to go out to eat next or doesn’t have to do their chores for a week.)

4. Take a Scenic Drive to See Fall Foliage.

If you’re not one of the lucky ones who gets to enjoy the fall foliage in their own backyard, get in the car and take a drive for some family bonding to see the changing leaves.

(Tip: Get outside and take a short hike to immerse yourself in nature and all the beauty that fall brings.)

5. Bake Fall-Themed Treats.

There’s nothing better than the aroma of fall desserts baking in the kitchen. Pumpkin pie, caramel apples, apple cider donuts and cinnamon rolls are just a few sweet treats to get you in the fall mood.

(Tip: Have everyone in your family make their favorite fall treat, so you have extras to share with your neighbors.)

6. Relax in a Hot Tub.

What better way to soak in the cool, crisp fall nights than relaxing in a hot tub? Whether it’s unwinding after a long day, enjoying time as a couple or making it a family affair to catch up on what’s happening at school, there’s nothing more relaxing than sinking into warm, bubbling water right in your own backyard.

(Tip: Don’t have a hot tub? An inflatable hot tub is quick and easy to set up! The SaluSpa® Fiji AirJet™ provides a soothing massage experience for up to 4 people and is a must-have for your fall backyard oasis.)

7. Watch a Halloween Movie.

‘Tis the (spooky) season for sipping on warm apple cider (or hot cocoa) while watching Halloween movies in the comfort of your own home. If scary movies aren’t your thing (or you have littles), there are plenty of other Halloween movies to choose from like Hocus Pocus, Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloweentown and Casper.

(Tip: You can also bring the fun outside! If it’s brisk, put on that cozy flannel, a scarf and mittens. You'll just need a sheet, projector, media player and speakers. Check with your local library to see if they have any of these items to rent to save some cash! Whether your movie night is indoors or outdoors, our Inflate-A-Chair is a perfect addition to your set-up. It’s comfortable, sturdy and is easy to set up.)

8. Attend a Football Game.

Root, root, root for the home team! Whether it’s your local club team, high school or college, for many families, fall = football. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a casual viewer, attending a football game can be a fun way to bond.

(Tip: Planning on tailgating before the big game? Here are 5 creative ways to change up your tailgating party.)

Now that your fall bucket list is full of fun, family-friendly activities, go out and make some memories!
